A one stop destination for English Premier League teams, players and most importantly fans to keep in touch with the in's and out's of their clubs goings on via Twitter.
Here at PANDR we love football, we're huge fans and despite being unable to agree on a preferred team we do all have one thing in common; we love the entertainment that stems from Professional Footballers using Twitter.
As a result we have taken it upon ourselves to develop a responsive website that curates the activity of football players on Twitter, grouped into the context of the teams they play for. Each team has been assigned it's own Twitter hash tag (#mtt_arsenal for example) that fans can use to show support for their favourite teams. An overall fan count for each club offers some competition and incentive for fans to get involved with the site. The system also charts the most popular and active players on Twitter, something we think might make for entertaining comparisons with Players performances later in the season.
One of the primary catalysts for building the site was to test drive the development of a responsive design. The overall layout of My Team Tweet is driven by the device it is being viewed on; an iPhone or iPad for example. The same effect can be recreated by manually resizing this Internet Browser window. To do this we used the HTML5 Boilerplate, "a rock-solid default for HTML5 awesome", but substituted in the 320 and Up tools for focusing on smaller devices first.
The site itself is built with Rails 3, hosted on Heroku's Celadon Cedar stack and makes use of the Unicorn gem to spawn child worker processes from the Master web process; a setup that has turned out to be very effective for our project.
Our new favourite way to keep tabs on all the Premier League shenanigans and goings on via Twitter.
