A Biomedical Picture of the Day website with accompanying back stories written by some of the countries most talented science writers.
The Medical Research Council approached us with the aim to build a website showcasing biomedical photos from the extremely valuable work that they conduct, on a daily basis. The requirements for the design were clear, let the content do the work.
PANDR were required to develop a bespoke system that would allow admin users of the system to complete everything from clearing image copyright to scheduling images for months in advance.
The solution we provided enables the Biomedical Picture of the Day (BPoD) team to do this effortlessly. The Ruby on Rails application we built, enables BPoD admin users to enter copyright holder information for each image, contact those holders and then manage images as and when they receive clearance. A clear publishing structure for the application was essential to ensure that anyone using the system, experienced or not, was unable to publish images that didn't have copyright clearance.
We are delighted with the BPoD website PANDR built; it's been a pleasure from concept through to completion. The front end provides a simple uncluttered skin, letting the content speak for itself, and the back end makes our labour much lighter
